Featuring Meghan Trainor's All About That Bass

This week it really is All About That Bass as the track has helped Meghan Trainor score her first UK number one single.

The US singer-songwriter’s track jumped 32 places to the top spot this week after selling nearly 144,000 copies, making it one of the fastest selling tracks of the year so far, according to the Official Charts Company.

Clean Bandit’s Rather Be featuring Jess Glynne (which sold nearly 163,000 copies in its first week, back in January), currently holds the record for the highest first week sales of the year.

‘It feels unreal! I still don’t believe it! Especially on my first single. It’s incredible!” the 20-year-old told OfficialCharts.com.

It was never really a question of if All About That Bass would get to number one, more about when, with last week seeing the song become the first to ever enter the Top 40 based on streams alone.

‘My mom was the first one to tell me I was breaking records in the UK. I had to read it myself to believe it. It feels amazing.’

And the her popularity on streaming hasn’t waned either as Trainor’s debut is the most streamed track of the week. All About That Bass has been listened to nearly 1.4 million times in the last seven days, with streams contributing over nine percent  of the song’s combined chart sales figure.
